# What is Employee lifecycle?

The employee lifecycle is the full sequence of stages an employee passes through with an employer, from recruitment and onboarding to development, retention and exit.

## Employee lifecycle explained

Managing it as one continuous record rather than as separate systems is what prevents the common failure modes: a hire whose visa was never tracked, a leaver whose gratuity was calculated from stale salary data, a promotion that never reached payroll.

In the GCC the lifecycle carries extra statutory steps at both ends — work permit, labour card and iqama at entry; visa cancellation, final settlement and end-of-service at exit.
