What is SIF?
SIF stands for Salary Information File.
A Salary Information File (SIF) is the fixed-format text file a UAE employer submits to transfer wages through the Wage Protection System.
SIF explained
The SIF carries the employer's MOHRE establishment identifier, each employee's labour card number and personal identifier, the pay period, and the fixed and variable components of pay. Its layout is strictly specified: a malformed field, a wrong record count or a mismatched total causes the bank to reject the whole file.
Rejections are the most common cause of late WPS payment, which is why generating the SIF inside the payroll system — rather than exporting to a spreadsheet and reformatting — materially reduces compliance risk.
Because wages are now due on the 1st under Ministerial Resolution No. 340 of 2026, there is no longer slack in the calendar for a rejected file to be corrected and resubmitted. Validate before month end.
