What is Human-in-the-loop?
Human-in-the-loop describes an automation design in which AI prepares the work but a person reviews and approves before any consequential action is taken.
Human-in-the-loop explained
In HR the pattern matters most for payroll releases, contract issuance, terminations and anything with a statutory filing attached. The AI does the preparation; the accountable human signs off.
It is also what makes AI decisions defensible. A shortlist with stated reasons that a recruiter approved is auditable; an opaque automated rejection is not.
