AI resume screening is the automated evaluation and ranking of job applications against role requirements, producing a shortlist with stated reasons rather than a keyword filter.
AI resume screening explained
Unlike keyword matching, which rejects on the absence of a string, AI screening reads the application in context — inferring that a candidate's described responsibilities meet a requirement even where the wording differs.
In the UAE there is no prohibition on AI-assisted screening, but candidate data is subject to the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, requiring a lawful basis for processing and defined retention. Screening decisions should also be explainable, which is why reasons matter more than scores.
