Saudi compliance

    What is GOSI?

GOSI stands for General Organization for Social Insurance.

GOSI is Saudi Arabia's social insurance authority, collecting mandatory contributions from employers and employees to fund pensions and occupational hazard cover.

    GOSI explained

Contribution rates differ by nationality. Saudi nationals attract pension, unemployment (SANED) and occupational hazard contributions split between employer and employee; non-Saudi employees are generally covered for occupational hazards only, paid by the employer.

Contributions are calculated on a defined contributory wage, typically basic salary plus housing allowance, subject to floors and ceilings. Registering and deregistering employees within the required window is an employer obligation.

Because GOSI wage definitions differ from the definitions used for end-of-service and for Mudad wage protection, Saudi payroll routinely maintains several parallel wage bases — a common source of error in systems not built for the market.
